Defending Champion USA Loses to Germany, 113-111

The United States lost to Germany 113-111 in the semifinals of the FIBA World Cup on Friday night in Manila.

The U.S. was the defending champion and had won the gold medal in the last three World Cups.

Germany was led by Andreas Obst, who scored 24 points. Franz Wagner added 22 points.

The U.S. was led by Kevin Durant, who scored 38 points.

The U.S. was undone by a porous perimeter defense and a lack of rebounding.

Germany will face Canada in the final on Sunday.

The U.S. will still qualify for the 2024 Olympics, but they will not be the defending champions.
